SUMMARY:Plant Diagnosis Training
DESCRIPTION:We are pleased to have Jenny Glass\, plant diagnostician\, conduct an in-person training for Master Gardener volunteers at the Wenatchee Tree Fruit Research & Extension Center. \nJenny is a Diagnostician at the Washington State University (WSU) Puyallup Plant & Insect Diagnostic Laboratory. Her expertise lies in helping citizens of Washington State resolve issues related to plants and insects through accurate problem diagnoses. She provides applicable management options to a diverse clientele\, including commercial growers\, pest control operators\, home gardeners\, consultants\, county agents\, Master Gardeners\, and research personnel. The laboratory primarily handles samples from Washington State\, particularly western Washington\, and does not accept samples from other areas of the country. \nMaster Gardeners who attend this session will earn 3 hours of Continuing Education (CE). \nSign-ups will be sent the first week of May.

SUMMARY:Okanogan Street Community Garden Tour for Master Gardeners
DESCRIPTION:Dave Erickson\, Director of the City of Wenatchee Parks\, Recreation & Cultural Services Department\, will lead a tour and education session for Master Gardeners at the Okanogan Street Community Garden. During this session\, he will present a history of the garden and its development. The staff will also explain the rental process and other programmatic matters\, including staff support for repairs and waste removal. \nThe Okanogan Street Community Garden\, established by the City of Wenatchee in 2023\, is situated at the intersection of Okanogan and Yakima streets in Wenatchee. As it enters its second growing season\, the garden\, serving the immediate neighborhood\, has garnered significant interest\, with a waiting list for renting space. Many of the gardeners are new to gardening and are enthusiastic about learning more about the art of cultivation. \nMaster Gardeners who attend this session will earn 1 hour of Continuing Education (CE).
