Stop by for free seminars, hands‑on tips, and plenty of resources to help you cultivate a productive, delicious garden this season.

Friday, March 13, 6:00 PM – The ABCs of Vegetable Gardening
Jan Clark, certified WSU Extension Chelan-Douglas Master Gardener
This class will provide valuable information about growing vegetables for newer gardeners and serve as a refresher for those with some gardening experience under their belt.
Learn about:
- Assessing growing conditions: zone, sun exposure, space, access to water, expense
- Getting started: seeds vs. plants, raised beds vs. in-ground planting, spring crops, summer crops, etc.
- Maintaining the garden: watering, monitoring, pest control, weeding, and feeding or fertilizing
Saturday, March 14, 11:00 AM -The Dirt on Soil

Healthy soil makes a successful garden. Hear about how to determine the soil’s fertility and consistency. Learn about incorporating compost and using fertilizers. Brush up on information about irrigation and weeding.
Saturday, March 14, 2:00 PM – Insect Pest Control in the Vegetable Garden

This class will discuss several common insect pests in the vegetable garden. This includes what insect most likely causes the damage, what the damage looks like on a particular plant, and methods to use to reduce damage to the garden crops. Making the right choices regarding types of crops and varieties to grow will enable you to produce a healthy vegetable crop while reducing the need for pesticides. We’ll point out routines in the garden that enhance your garden experience.
Sunday, March 15, 12:00 PM – Starting Vegetables from Seed

Starting from seed is an exciting way to get your vegetable garden going. Find out about seed types and technologies, which seeds to start indoors and which ones to sow directly into the garden. You will learn what seeds need for best germination, and some tips for saving seeds.
